Description

Tectonic explorations, their character is inextricable from the means of production. Lithic, cosmic, grounded within space by the mirage of ceiling and fragmented stone floors, precision is forsaken in the pursuit of expansive tactility and the potential of productive dysfunction, each object a synthesis of intention and error. Driven by a need to manifest landscapes - both physical and emotional - the objects deal with the rootedness of place, a sensitive awareness of physical presence, and the evocation of dreams and latent memories: stars, darkness, movement, belonging. A commission born in part from the geographic shifts in our lives, process became essential for production as well as our relationship as designers. Designed between Berlin and Texas, and fabricated in the United States, each piece is cast from aluminum recycled from engine heads and other automotive parts. We would like to thank Ornella for her creativity, care, and general magnificence; and Scott Star for his generosity and support which has made this project and others possible.
